About TED
TED is a nonprofit organization dedicated to spreading impactful ideas. Founded as a four-day conference in California over 30 years ago, TED now furthers its mission through various initiatives. The annual TED Conferences, held each spring in Vancouver, British Columbia, feature the world’s leading thinkers and doers, who speak for 18 minutes or less, with many talks available for free on TED.com. Notable speakers include Bill Gates, Jane Goodall, and Daniel Kahneman. TED's media efforts include TED Translators, offering subtitles and translations, and TED-Ed, its educational platform. The Audacious Project collaborates on funding transformative ideas, while TEDx supports independently organized local TED-style events globally. The TED Fellows program helps innovators amplify their projects' impact worldwide.
About TEDx
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TED Talks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized. (Subject to certain rules and regulations.)
